This new Cancer Treatment Center was designed to complement the surrounding buildings on the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center campus with matching brick, cast stone, and aluminum window systems. The interior was designed with a balance of aesthetics, durability and timelessness in order to create a welcoming environment for veterans and their families.
The intent of this project was to create a full-service Cancer Treatment Center to serve the Shreveport area by including medical oncology, radiation oncology and hematology services under one roof. The Medical Oncology Department included (14) chemotherapy bays, an isolation room, pharmacy, blood draw, (8) exam rooms and triage. The Radiation Oncology Department included (2) linear accelerators, a computed tomography (CT) simulator, (3) exam rooms, an exam procedure room, dosimetry, and physics lab.
Spur Design issued 100% Construction Documents, but the project was canceled due to budget restraints.

Spur Design worked with the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center to provide a new four (4) stop hydraulic elevator. With multiple ongoing projects, including newly renovated and expanded inpatient areas and a new emergency department addition (both designed by Spur under a separate contracts), the VA needed a new elevator to service their growing facility. The addition is located at the front of the main hospital adjacent to all services, providing easy access for staff and patients alike.
