Spur Design is looking for a full-time Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate is organized, a self-starter, detail oriented, and collaborative.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Provide electrical engineering design and documentation on projects within Spur Design offices including client liaison, site investigations, design, contract documentation and construction administration.

  • Perform electrical engineering tasks including, but not limited to, production of contract documents, specifications, design narratives, electrical calculations, and submission packages.

  • Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs.  Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job.

  • Travel for but not limited to site visits, client meetings, professional collaboration, and satellite office visits.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited four-year college or university, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, electronics, or related field

  • Professional engineering license (PE) required

  • Have 4-8+ years of experience

  • Previous VA, FAA, or other federal work experience is a plus

  • Experience with design of building lighting, power, data, nurse call, security, and fire alarm systems for healthcare projects is preferred

  • Thorough understanding of building/electrical codes

  • Experience writing specifications

  • Able to work with and oversee junior staff

  • Ability to balance varying-paced deadlines and responsiveness while maintaining quality and a high attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to analyze and solve technical problems quickly and effectively

  • Proficiency with various software including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.

  • Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

Job Requirements:

Mechanical Engineer

Job Requirements:

  • Provide mechanical and plumbing engineering design and documentation on projects within Spur Design including client liaison, project design, contract documentation, and construction administration. 

  • Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs.  Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job, billable and non-billable. 

  • Proactively pursue training and development of junior staff both within and outside of project related tasks. 

  • Work with mechanical discipline lead, director of design, and operations manager to contribute toward the improvement of Spur Design’s methods and processes. 

  • Support requests for assistance related to marketing, project interviews, level of effort estimates, and project proposals. 

  • Attend office meetings and report on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects and junior staff. 

  • Travel for (but not limited to) site visits, professional collaborations, and satellite office visits. 

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the Spur Design offices. 

  • Assist in the maintenance of office systems including updating of trade libraries and filing systems. 

  • Act at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, other staff, clients, and visitors. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in the Mechanical and Plumbing construction design field.

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited four-year college or university in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • PE Licensure is preferred.

  • Able to balance project deadlines, responsiveness to project changes, training of junior staff, push the design standards of the department forward, and maintain the quality of them all.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with various software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.

  • Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.

Project Architect

Spur Design is looking for a full-time Project Architect to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate is organized, a motivated self-starter, detail oriented, and collaborative.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Lead the definition, development, and implementation of creative concepts according to the Scope of Work and client specifications of small projects

  • Collaborate closely with Architecture Lead, Project Manager (PM), junior designers, and sub-consultants to supervise the teams' design and technical delivery in order to develop a project from initial idea to profitable completion. Some travel may be required.

  • Prepare and ensure the completion of, fully coordinated Construction Document sets that comply with all project and code requirements while supervising, instructing, and providing direction to junior designers

  • Conduct project research

  • Daily responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Sub-consultant coordination at production and drawing coordination level

    • Ensure compliance with Spur Design standards and quality control

    • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure effective and efficient use of staff and resources

    • Produce and oversee technical documentation

    • Monitor design processes to ensure consistency of design intent

  • Coordinates and oversees internal team meetings and reviews

  • Review all project correspondence, meeting notes and other data to keep fully informed on the project

  • Participate in weekly/monthly project in progress reviews and report to the Director of Design and Director of Operations on the project's progress against program, fee, deliverables and Scope of Work

  • Manage and maintain project BIM model in accordance with Spur Design standards

  • Coordinate Newforma project files and access

  • Along-side Project Manager, interact with building officials before and during project permitting

  • Participate in client meetings

  • Conduct on-site observations and draft reports

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture

  • Registered Architect 5+ years

  • NCARB preferred

  • High proficiency in applicable BIM and CAD software(s).

  • Ability to lead and guide the production of construction documents

  • Portfolio of completed projects

  • Thorough knowledge of codes and zoning regulations

  • Coordination skills with Project Managers, consultants and schedules

  • Extensive knowledge of construction detailing and ability to prepare a complete set of construction documents

  • Leadership and mentorship of staff and internal project team

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills

  • Ability to translate concepts into functional construction designs

  • Advanced project management skills

Architectural Designer

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Entry Level architecture graduate with bachelor’s degree in architecture

  • 0-2 years of professional experience

  • A portfolio of completed designs

  • Excellent technical skills, must have REVIT software experience

  • Strong creative design and ability to find unique solutions to problems

  • Time management- must be able to work on multiple projects at a time while keeping to tight project schedules

  • Good customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills between architectural team, consultants, and clients

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents

  • Ability to generate reports and deliver to team members
