Project Architect

Job Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | Overland Park, Kansas | Tempe, Arizona | Remote

Spur Design is looking for a full-time Project Architect to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate is organized, a motivated self-starter, detail oriented, and collaborative.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Lead the definition, development, and implementation of creative concepts according to the Scope of Work and client specifications of small projects

  • Collaborate closely with Architecture Lead, Project Manager (PM), junior designers, and sub-consultants to supervise the teams' design and technical delivery in order to develop a project from initial idea to profitable completion. Some travel may be required.

  • Prepare and ensure the completion of, fully coordinated Construction Document sets that comply with all project and code requirements while supervising, instructing, and providing direction to junior designers

  • Conduct project research

  • Daily responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Sub-consultant coordination at production and drawing coordination level

    • Ensure compliance with Spur Design standards and quality control

    • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure effective and efficient use of staff and resources

    • Produce and oversee technical documentation

    • Monitor design processes to ensure consistency of design intent

  • Coordinates and oversees internal team meetings and reviews

  • Review all project correspondence, meeting notes and other data to keep fully informed on the project

  • Participate in weekly/monthly project in progress reviews and report to the Director of Design and Director of Operations on the project's progress against program, fee, deliverables and Scope of Work

  • Manage and maintain project BIM model in accordance with Spur Design standards

  • Coordinate Newforma project files and access

  • Along-side Project Manager, interact with building officials before and during project permitting

  • Participate in client meetings

  • Conduct on-site observations and draft reports

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture

  • Registered Architect 5+ years

  • NCARB preferred

  • High proficiency in applicable BIM and CAD software(s).

  • Ability to lead and guide the production of construction documents

  • Portfolio of completed projects

  • Thorough knowledge of codes and zoning regulations

  • Coordination skills with Project Managers, consultants and schedules

  • Extensive knowledge of construction detailing and ability to prepare a complete set of construction documents

  • Leadership and mentorship of staff and internal project team

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills

  • Ability to translate concepts into functional construction designs

  • Advanced project management skills

  • Knowledge of construction costs and time frames

Project Manager

Spur Design is looking for a full-time Project Manager to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate is organized, a motivated self-starter, detail oriented, and collaborative.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Support the management of multiple projects from inception through completion and are primarily responsible for managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations

  • Ensure team knows and understands the project vision and scope of work

  • Participate in client meetings

  • Obtain necessary client approvals

  • Create and manage project schedule milestones, both internal and external

  • Facilitate the documentation of meetings and work sessions

  • Generate reports

  • Maintain team morale

  • Assist with document production as needed

  • Actively manage project communications and documentation, and project administrative tasks

  • Ensure that internal communication is directed to the appropriate people and that a prompt and adequate response is made to any concerns raised

  • Track project labor hours

  • Identify potential exposure to risks and propose mitigation methods

  • Provide oversight and assistance in managing a project BIM execution plan

  • Establish and maintain project Newforma files and sub-consultant access

  • Proactively manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope

  • Review internal and external work-in-progress as well as deliverables

  • Act as primary contact to sub-consultants at an administrative level and coordinate exchanges related to assigned project deliverables and scheduling

  • Work with administrative staff on production of design binders and their timely distribution

  • Document all client review comments and distribute to design team for responses

  • Coordinate with accounting for invoice submission to client

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ year’s experience in project management

  • Architectural Licensed professional

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Bluebeam Revu

Mechanical EIT/Designer

Job Location: Overland Park, Kansas

Spur Design is looking for a full-time Mechanical Designer/EIT to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate is organized, a self-starter, detail oriented, and collaborative.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Provide mechanical and plumbing engineering design and documentation on projects for Spur Design including client liaison, site investigations, technical design, contract documentation, and construction administration.

  • Perform mechanical and plumbing engineering tasks including, but not limited to, production of contract documents, specifications, design narratives, calculations, and submission packages.

  • Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs.  Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job.

  • Travel for, but not limited to, site visits, professional collaboration, and satellite office visits.

  • Attend office meetings and report on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects.

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Spur Design offices.

  • Assist in the development & maintenance of office systems including processes, design tools, and updating of trade libraries and filing systems.

  • Act at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, other staff, clients, and visitors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited four-year college or university in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field.

  • Have passed or plan to take the NCEES approved FE (fundamentals of engineering) Exam.

  • Able to balance deadlines, responsiveness to project changes, and maintain the quality of both.

  • Willing to learn and grow in the position and job field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with various software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.

  • Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred

  • Previous related experience in the field is a plus
