Telecommunications (ICT) Designer

Location: Oklahoma City, OK I Tempe, AZ I Kansas City, MO

Spur is looking for a full-time Telecommunications (ICT) Designer to join our ICT team. This person will aid in the planning, design, and implementation of the Telecommunications (ICT) Team’s design and delivery. The ideal candidate is an ambitious, organized self-starter, detail-oriented, and collaborative.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Responsible for production of technical ICT (information and communications technologies including, but not limited to: Telecommunications, ESS (electronic security systems), A/V (Audio-Visual), and Nurse Call as a designer, Security, and Audio/Visual (A/V) systems designs as a designer.

  • Assist in the creation of construction documents including but not limited to: Drawings (floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, riser diagrams, etc), design narratives, and specifications in order to facilitate the design of backbone distribution, cabling media and pathways, and health care systems for multiple sectors including healthcare, commercial, and federal projects.

  • Build expertise with the latest design software such as Autodesk suite of Auto-Cad and REVIT BIM modeling, and Bluebeam.

  • Perform project-specific tasks in a timely and accurate manor. Always being aware and understanding the difference of the project and specific task deadlines.

  • Perform site condition assessments and surveys.

  • Routinely support multiple design team projects by delivering results, managing your time, meeting varying deadlines and taking direction from team members.

  • Travel for but not limited to site visits, field investigation, and collaboration.

  • Produce quality work using technology and methodologies that create innovative approaches to building design.

  • Provide “first step” of QAQC by reviewing documentation performed by themselves and/or other junior level team members prior to review by senior team members.

  • Build expertise with pertinent design standards such as the VA-Til library, Unified Facilities Criteria, NFPA/NEC, ANSI/TIA, and BICSI reference guides.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0-5 years of Telecommunications (ICT) or related MEP or Architectural Design experience

  • BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) member a plus

    • Previous BICSI - RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) study and coursework a plus

  • AVIXA (Audio Visual and Integrated Experience Association) member a plus

    • Previous AVIXA - CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) study and coursework a plus

  • ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security) member a plus

  • High school diploma required

    • 2 Year Associates degree or technical school certification a plus

    • Coursework towards Bachelors degree in engineering a plus

  • Willing to learn, grow, and be coached in the position and job field.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with various software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.

  • Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred.

  • Previous construction industry knowledge/experience is a plus.

  • Previous related survey, assessment, and field experience is a plus.

Telecom Designer

Senior Telecommunications (ICT) Designer

Location: Oklahoma City, OK I Tempe, AZ I Kansas City, MO

Spur is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Senior ICT (Telecommunications) Designer to enhance our dynamic team. This individual will play a key role in planning, designing, and implementing comprehensive telecommunications solutions for our projects. We are looking for an organized self-starter with meticulous attention to detail and a collaborative mindset to contribute to the success of our Telecommunications Team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Responsible for production and review of technical ICT (Telecommunications) systems including, but not limited to, Structured cabling, Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP), Telephony, Electronic Security Systems (Access Control, Video Surveillance), Nurse Call, and Audio-Visual as senior engineer/designer. 

  • Lead the creation of construction documents (floor plans, enlarged plans, elevations, details, riser diagrams, etc.) to facilitate the design of backbone distribution, cable pathways, and telecom spaces for healthcare, commercial, and federal projects.

  • Traveling for site visits, professional collaborations, and satellite office visits.

  • Proficiency with the latest Revit software for BIM modeling.

  • Proficient in creating a detailed design of new structured cabling systems or integrating and modifying a design into an existing environment.

  • Solitarily able to perform site condition surveys.

  • Manage to prioritize project work proactively and provide program management within a multi-disciplinary project team.

  • Routinely support multiple design team projects by delivering results, managing your time, and meeting varying deadlines.

  • Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.

  • Produce quality work using technology and methodologies that create innovative approaches to building design.

  • Lead and provide guidance to junior telecommunication designers or draftspersons.

  • Work with the Telecommunications Director and design team to contribute toward improving Spur Design’s methods and processes.

  • Coordinate work activities with project teams and discipline director.

  • Work as part of an MEP design team to provide ICT (Telecommunications) engineering and design support on a variety of building projects:

    • Design systems such as: Structured Cabling, Telephony, Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP), Nurse Audio-Visual, Fire Alarm, Access Control, and Video-Surveillance systems for building related construction projects.

    • Preparation of ICT (Telecommunications) construction documentation including drawings.

    • Proficiency in applying requirements of ICT (Telecommunications) Standards, and Codes.

    • Able to assess most ICT (Telecommunications) building systems, types, and utilities.

    • REVIT and Auto-CAD Modelling of designs.

    • Able to select equipment on complex projects and with little direction of more senior staff.

    • Prepare project documents under direction of more senior staff.

    • Coordinate project information and designs with architects and other engineering disciplines.

    • Performs field work as directed by senior staff.

  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexities as assigned by the senior engineering staff.

  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.

  • Solitary client interaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 8 Years of Telecommunications/Low-Voltage Design experience.

  • Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and REVIT.

  • BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) member a plus

    • RCDD designation (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or a plan to obtain it.

  • AVIXA (Audio Visual and Integrated Experience Association) member a plus

    • Previous AVIXA - CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) study and coursework a plus

  • ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security) member a plus

  • Ability to balance deadlines, responsiveness to project changes, and maintain high-quality work.

  • Willingness to learn and grow in the position and job field.

  • Willingness to assist in mentoring junior staff.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.

  • Previous related experience in the field.
