Additional Information
Spur Design provided A&E services for the replacement of a non-functioning elevator in Hangar 8, Building 9, at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. The 1950’s era building’s original shaft was too small to accommodate a modern accessible elevator, making a building addition the best solution.
This addition project included a new vestibule, elevator machine room and new finishes in the corridor and adjacent toilet rooms on each floor. Challenges on this project included numerous site utilities within a very limited site footprint, accessibility issues during construction and the tie-in of numerous systems into the existing building infrastructure.
