This new Cancer Treatment Center was designed to complement the surrounding buildings on the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center campus with matching brick, cast stone, and aluminum window systems. The interior was designed with a balance of aesthetics, durability and timelessness in order to create a welcoming environment for veterans and their families.
The intent of this project was to create a full-service Cancer Treatment Center to serve the Shreveport area by including medical oncology, radiation oncology and hematology services under one roof. The Medical Oncology Department included (14) chemotherapy bays, an isolation room, pharmacy, blood draw, (8) exam rooms and triage. The Radiation Oncology Department included (2) linear accelerators, a computed tomography (CT) simulator, (3) exam rooms, an exam procedure room, dosimetry, and physics lab.
Spur Design issued 100% Construction Documents, but the project was canceled due to budget restraints.

Spur Design provided Type ‘A’ and ‘B’ Services for the addition of this multi-use conference center with storm shelter capabilities. The facility is linked to the west facade of the existing TSF building. The design includes one conference room that can be subdivided into two spaces with a movable partition. The space also includes adjacent restrooms, storage, and electrical/mechanical rooms.
